New research reveals a huge AI safety expectation gap

28 January 2026

"A new survey of 933 Australians reveals a stark disconnect: 94 per cent expect AI systems to meet or exceed the safety standards of commercial aviation.

Expert assessments of AI risk? At least 4,000 times higher. AI experts say it’s 30,000 times higher."
