What’s the problem?
Artificial intelligence is reshaping how organisations operate, make decisions and deliver services. Yet moving from experimentation to meaningful, organisation-wide adoption remains a significant challenge. Businesses, governments and community organisations must navigate issues such as governance, workforce capability, trust, regulation, data quality, risk management and long-term implementation. Without the right expertise and supporting frameworks, many organisations struggle to realise the benefits of AI while managing its risks.

What’s UQ’s innovation?
The UQ Centre for Enterprise AI is Australia’s first research centre dedicated to Enterprise AI development and successful adoption. Established in 2025 and headquartered at The University of Queensland, the Centre brings together research, industry and government to build capability and leadership in enterprise AI as organisations adapt to a rapidly changing AI-driven economy and society.
The Centre brings together more than 20 academic experts from across technology, management, policy, law, economics and design. Its research is focused on helping organisations use AI effectively, responsibly and at scale, with projects spanning diverse enterprise contexts from startups and SMEs to social enterprises, government agencies and large-scale data environments.
Research areas include agentic AI for hospital-to-home care pathways, AI-powered tele-triage tools for healthcare, resilient data infrastructure for enterprise AI, sustainable AI, intelligent recommender systems, and new approaches that help organisations turn AI uncertainty into strategic advantage. Across these projects, the Centre views AI not as a replacement for human intelligence, but as a tool that supports better thinking, stronger decision-making and greater organisational capability.
What’s the impact?
The Centre is helping organisations move beyond pilot projects and isolated use cases towards sustainable, enterprise-wide AI implementation. Its research provides practical tools, frameworks and guidance that support responsible AI adoption, stronger governance and more effective decision-making.
Through collaboration with industry, government and community partners, the Centre helps organisations access leading research, co-design AI solutions, build workforce capability and explore new opportunities for innovation. In doing so, it is strengthening Australia’s capability in enterprise AI and helping ensure AI technologies deliver value for organisations, communities and society.
