AI Network researchers celebrate ARC funding success

10 February 2026

AI network member Prof. Tim Miller from the School of EECS, along with UQ colleagues Prof. Andrew Neal and A/Prof Tim Ballard, both from UQ’s School of Psychology, are three of 18 CIs that are part of a new $94.6 million ARC Centre of Excellence to empower workers in the digital age.

The ARC Centre of Excellence for Quality Work in a Digital Age (QWiDA) will work with international researchers, industry, and government on how workers and organisations can better use technology in the workplace. The UQ node will lead research on augmenting working with artificial intelligence and automation, looking at effects beyond just technology efficiency, such as the effect on work quality, worker well-being, and investigating important topics such as skill erosion from artificial intelligence.
