Prof. Rhema Vaithianathan and her team developed the world-first Allegheny Family Screening tool (AFST), a child maltreatment decision support tool implemented by Allegheny County, PA (United States) in 2016, with the team’s approach widely praised as transparent and inclusive.

The AFST is a predictive risk modeling tool that rapidly integrates and analyses hundreds of data elements for each person involved in an allegation of child maltreatment.
