AI Research Strengths in Information Retrieval

Dr Guido Zucco and Dr Joel Mackenzie, together with PhD candidate Shuyi Wang, are working to improve search quality and better understand how users behave based on the data collected by large search systems such as Google and Alexa. By devising AI methods based on federated learning, these researchers are hoping to remove interaction biases and the problems that arise when people change what they want from their search over time, while leveraging interaction data from multiple sources without a need to share private data.
